What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites download to your device — such as your computer, tablet, or mobile phone — while you are browsing. If your browser settings allow it, individual websites may place their own cookies on your device, which are then stored on your hard drive. Cookies often contain a unique identifier that enables websites to recognize user preferences and other information when you return to the site.

General Information About Cookies

Function of Cookies

A cookie is a small data unit — an alphanumeric information packet of variable content — that is sent to your device by the server of the website you visit. This data is stored by your browser and can later be read back by the same server. Other websites cannot access it — only the one that originally placed it.

Cookies provide information about how visitors use a given website. They can serve various purposes, such as measuring website traffic or enhancing the browsing experience by remembering previously visited pages. Cookies do not contain personal data that would allow anyone to contact you directly by email, phone, or post. On their own, cookies cannot be used to identify you — they merely help recognize the device used. If you do not delete them, and later revisit the same website, it may “remember” your previous settings via the stored cookies.

If you do not wish to allow the use of cookies, you can configure your browser to warn you before cookies are placed, or to block them entirely. Additionally, you can delete any cookies already stored in your browser at any time through your browser settings.

How Can You Control the Use of Cookies?

When you visit our website, cookies are placed on the device you use (computer, laptop, phone, or tablet). You are informed of this via a pop-up window that appears when the homepage loads at the beginning of your browsing session.

If we use cookies for purposes beyond what is necessary for the proper and convenient functioning of the website, we will ask for your consent in the pop-up window. This window also allows you to give or modify your consent to different types of data collection.

You can access and modify your cookie preferences at any time through your browser settings.

Within the settings, you can choose to disable or delete cookies. However, please note that without cookies, certain features may not be available or some services may not function properly, which could affect your overall browsing experience.

Types of Cookies

Cookies can serve different functions. Below, we provide a detailed overview of these categories to ensure transparency regarding the types of cookies we use and their respective purposes.

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the proper functioning of the website and enable its core features, such as secure browsing, maintaining login sessions, or navigation. Without them, the website would not function correctly, and therefore their use does not require user consent. They do not collect data for marketing or analytics purposes and are managed exclusively by the website operator. Strictly necessary cookies may be session cookies, which are deleted when the browser is closed, or persistent cookies, which retain settings for a specified duration.

Session Cookies

Session cookies are temporarily stored on the user’s device and remain active only during the browsing session. They are automatically deleted when the browser is closed. These cookies allow the website to remember pages visited, data entered, or the content of completed forms. They are often essential for the proper functioning of the site — for example, maintaining a secure login process. In some cases, session cookies may also serve convenience or analytical purposes, such as collecting statistical data on user behavior, which may require user consent.

Statistical Cookies

Analytics cookies measure the performance of the website. They help improve the site and enhance the user experience by collecting data on how the website is used. These cookies enable the Data Controller to gain more detailed insights into user interactions and browsing behavior. As these cookies are not essential for using the website, they require your prior consent. They will only be activated and used for data processing if you provide such consent.

Third-Party Marketing Cookies

Third-party marketing cookies are used to display advertisements that are relevant to you and aligned with your interests. They also serve to limit the number of times an ad is shown and help measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. Our advertising cookies are part of platforms such as Facebook and Google Ads, enabling the display of personalized ads and interaction with social media features. Third-party advertising cookies have varying expiration periods. Some of them do not expire automatically but can be deleted manually at any time via your browser’s history settings. We only use marketing cookies based on your prior consent.

Please note that third-party cookies are not placed by the Data Controller or the server hosting this website. These cookies may still be stored on your computer, laptop, phone, or tablet when you visit our site, depending on your settings.

Similar to the Google cookies mentioned above, Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. (Facebook – 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland) also provides online marketing services through the use of cookies and so-called pixels.

The Facebook Pixel is a piece of code that enables tracking of browsing behavior on the website. Right to Information and Access

The Data Controller always strives to provide data subjects with information regarding the processing of their personal data in a concise, transparent, intelligible, and easily accessible form, using clear and plain language.

Based on the existing employment relationship, the Data Controller processes your personal data. You may request information from the Data Controller regarding the processing of your personal data.

Upon request, the Data Controller will provide the following information about the processing of your personal data:

  • the purposes of the data processing;
  • the categories of personal data concerned;
  • the recipients or categories of recipients to whom the personal data have been or will be disclosed;
  • the planned duration of the storage of personal data or the criteria used to determine that period;
  • your rights to request the rectification or erasure of personal data, or the restriction of processing, as well as your right to object to the processing of personal data;
  • your right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority;
  • information about the source of the personal data if they were not collected directly from you;
  • the existence of automated decision-making, including profiling (at least meaningful information about the logic involved, as well as the significance and the envisaged consequences of such processing for you).

Right to Rectification

You have the right to request that the Data Controller rectify your inaccurate personal data or complete your incomplete personal data without undue delay. This right to rectification does not extend to modifying data recorded by video surveillance; however, it does apply to correcting any inaccurate or incomplete personal data contained in logs related to the review or release of such recordings.

Right to restriction of processing

The Data Controller shall restrict the processing of personal data if:

  • You contest the accuracy of the personal data,
  • The processing is unlawful and you oppose the erasure of the personal data,
  • The Data Controller no longer needs the personal data for the purposes of processing, but you require the data for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims, or
  • You have objected to the processing of your personal data based on reasons relating to your particular situation.

Where processing has been restricted, such personal data shall, with the exception of storage, only be processed with your consent or for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims or for the protection of the rights of another natural or legal person or for reasons of important public interest of the European Union or of a Member State.

The Data Controller shall inform you before the restriction of processing is lifted.

Right to Data Portability

The data subject shall have the right to receive the personal data concerning them, which they have provided to the Data Controller, in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, and shall have the right to transmit those data to another data controller without hindrance from the controller to which the personal data have been provided, where:

  1. the processing is based on consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) or Article 9(2)(a) of the GDPR, or on a contract pursuant to Article 6(1)(b); and
  2. the processing is carried out by automated means.

In exercising the right to data portability as described above, the data subject shall have the right to have the personal data transmitted directly from one controller to another, where technically feasible.

Right to Object to the Processing of Personal Data

You may object to the processing of your personal data on grounds relating to your particular situation, if the legal basis for the data processing is Article 6(1)(e) or (f) of the GDPR, and the processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the Controller or a third party.

In such cases, the Controller may no longer process the personal data unless the Controller demonstrates compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is necessary for the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims.
